Project of the Year 2007

The Project of the Year competition is in its sixth year under sponsorship of the Maine Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Information about the Project of the Year competition, entry requirements and information about winners of the Project of the Year and Project of Distinction awards is presented on and through this page.

The entry materials submitted by the candidates for awards, together with the judges' comments on the successful entries, are available for viewing at the PMI Maine library at the University of New England, Westbrook College Campus, on Stevens Avenue in Portland.  The materials cover the competition years of 2002-2006.  In each case, the awards were presented in the Spring of the following year.

Entries in the competition for the 2007 project year may be submitted at any time through April 30, 2008. Assistance in preparing the entry material is available through the POY Project Manager Jim Milliken (POY@PMIMaine.org or 207-772-3231). The awards will be announced and winners honored by PMI Maine in June, 2008.

The competition is open to all projects - defined as difficult, complex innovations - in any field. Examples of project areas are education, business, change management, government, construction, manufacturing and service industries, health care, economic development, information technology, social service and marketing.

PMI Maine is composed of project management professionals in a variety of specialties. It is affiliated with the international Project Management International, the premier worldwide organization of this rapidly growing field.

We believe the PMI Maine Project of the Year competition will benefit every person and organization that participates. More broadly, it will contribute to the improvement of project management - and therefore the economy and the general quality of life - everywhere in Maine.
