Website Privacy Policy We understand that privacy on the Internet is important. Because we gather certain types of information about the users of PMI Maine's website, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, and how we use it. Information PMI Maine gathers and tracks We gather two types of information about users: data that users provide through optional, voluntary registration when they sign up for email notifications, register for a meeting, or use other chapter data collection methods; and data gathered through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our sites. Such information enables us to better tailor our content to readers' needs and to help our advertisers better understand the demographics of our audience. Usage tracking PMI Maine tracks user traffic patterns throughout all of our sites. However, we do not correlate this information with data about individual users. We do break down overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading this information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). Sharing of the information PMI Maine may use the above-described information to tailor our content to suit your needs and may use it to help advertisers better understand our audience's demographics. We do not release e-mail addresses or other demographic information to advertisers, and does not send e-mails to members that they have not specifically requested (i.e., meeting notifications, etc.). What's a "cookie," and how do you use that? Cookies are data files that are stored on your computer. They contain identifying information that enables us to see how you interact with our site and how frequently you return. Cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information. Why, then, would PMI Maine even look at cookies? For the benefit of our users. For instance, we may use cookies to see how often we get repeat visitors (a good sign that we're doing something right), and to identify which sites our repeat visitors are coming from (we'd want to advertise more heavily on those sites). In short, by using cookies, we can monitor how we're doing, and use this information to make sure we're addressing the needs and wishes of our members, present and future. If you join our PM Community and choose the 'Remember Me' option then a cookie is written to your computer. This allows you to avoid logging in each time you visit the PM Community area. The cookie is good for one year, after which you will have to log in with your user name and password. You can then re-activate the 'Remember Me' option if you wish.
