Local Chapter Certification & Education Strategy
The Maine Chapter is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP). The Chapter obtained its REP certification from PMI after documenting that the PM training curriculum provided at the following institutions promulgates the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) principles. This designation allows the Chapter in concert with the endorsed institutions to award Professional Development Units (PDUs) needed to quality for for the PMP exam or to obtain PMP re-certification.
The training strategy of the Maine Chapter of PMI is to work with local colleges as they develop and provide project management education to the public. Following are courses which are endorsed by the Maine Chapter of PMI:

An overview of Project Management for Today's Organizations
Purpose:
- To help organizations understand how they can use project management to more effectively create new solutions and implement change.
- To promote the growth and development of all who are involved in the planning, creation, and implementation of projects.
- To provide awareness of the project management training and support that is available through the University of New England, and the Maine Chapter of the Project Management Institute.
Intended Audience:
- New Business entrepreneurs who have started to implement their business plans and are having trouble (1) allocating their time between, or (2) developing the two types of skills needed to manage the business and implement the plan
- Established business owners who want to add a new product line or significant service enhancement and want to use the new product introduction to make significant changes in the overall business
- Senior, middle, first level management and small business owners
- Organizational change agents
- Project managers, team leaders, and team members
- Quality improvement team leaders, facilitators, and team members
- Information systems, construction, state & local government, health care, retail, insurance, engineering, utilities, banking, manufacturing, high-tech, service industries, maintenance, and non-profit professionals
